In Network Marketing You’re Bound To Hit Some Snags

If you’re serious about Network Marketing, you’ll have days like this. This is not the time to throw up your hands and say “Enough, I can’t deal with this”. In the old system (that 50 year old methodology), there’s a saying that goes something like: “Some do, some don’t; some will, some won’t; so – what’s next?” The concept being that as you speak to your warm market (aka friends and family), not everyone is going to be interested in what you have to offer. Don’t get hung up on it. Move on.

It’s like anything else in selling, persistence – without being obnoxious – is essential to your success. So it is with Network Marketing. With the internet providing an entirely new methodology for driving a home based business and those that have mastered it making substantial incomes, the need for persistence from those learning the ropes has never been greater. Only now the persistence needs to be focused on learning the technology and the techniques.

I’ve been following a couple of systems that offer great functionality, yet I watch as the numbers of people throwing up their hands saying “Enough” borders on a mass Exodus. Why? Because they don’t have the level of persistence to see it through. Here’s another saying – “Fortune belongs to those who see opportunity before it becomes obvious”. Just because you get thrown a curve ball doesn’t mean you give up if you see that opportunity.

So, what happened today? Well, I mentioned in my earlier blog that I was using a tool to build followers on Twitter. I was loving this tool, seriously looking only for people who had similar interests and trying to find articles of relevant interest. I have zero interest in sending out the repeated nonsense that many do, nor will I use the vulgarities that many do, and yet I received notification today that I was being “investigated” by Twitter for possible violation of the rules. I see people out there with 50,000 followers/following and I’m only about 2-3% of those guys.

I haven’t yet been notified as to what I did, nor if I will be suspended. I’ll update that once I know. Suffice to say that it came as quite a surprise. Whatever rule I broke/bent I will obviously have to
avoid, but in the meantime, I guess I’m on Twitter probation.

So, now what? I decided to turn to article marketing. I had tuned in to a call earlier this week that talked about programs that automatically distribute your articles across hundreds of sites and do everything but make your coffee in the morning. Sounded great. Did some reading on the product and seeing as my Twitter activities had been put on hold, I decided I’d make the investment.

Well, from the software download on, it didn’t go well. I had several options for which I could choose my install software of choice. After futzing (is that a word?) for at least 1/2 hour I had made zero progress. OK, time to go to Support. (You know, I have to say, that with all the different companies and software that I have used for Network Marketing, the support has been amazing. Everyone is extremely helpful, supportive and seem to truly care that you do well – a great sign for the success of the business.) Anyway, the response was – “Sorry, it doesn’t work on a Mac. You need to use a virtual OS product”.

OK – should I quit and ask for my money back? NO!! Remember the earlier comment about persistence? This was software that was highly recommended by a guy that is one of those making substantial income. So, I went and found the virtual software (yes, I’ll share titles with you if you want to reach out), and loaded it out. Hmmm. It wasn’t loading properly, so digging a little further, turns out it needs OS 10.5 or greater. I’m at 10.4. Oh well I probably needed the upgrade anyway.

So now my goals for the day are kind of shot as the new OS comes on a DVD via snail mail. I guess in terms of my 5 year plan for my Network Marketing business, a couple of days interruption isn’t going to kill me. It’s not going to stop me from distributing my articles manually though.

Just one of those days when the snag monster came to visit. Don’t waste your time pal. I can outlast you any day.
